Prada hat made entirely of raffia, crocheted in two colors: black and dark brown.

The shape is soft, a cross between a bucket hat and a cloche hat, with a slightly flared brim and a wavy edge. The pattern alternates more compact bands with a two-tone geometric design that gives movement to the hat without making it too showy.

It's a Prada piece very different from the more well-known nylon bucket hats: here the strong point is primarily the material, 100% raffia, and the woven craftsmanship.

Inside, there is the Prada Milano label, size M, and the code ET03827.

Period

Early 2010s, around 2012.

The code ET03827 identifies the model but does not, by itself, allow us to determine the year. However, we found the same model in a different color variant, complete with the original label, with the same code ET03827 and 100% raffia composition. The placement around 2012 therefore remains what we consider most correct, while prudently keeping it as indicative.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition.

The structure maintains its shape well, and the raffia work is overall well-preserved.

The main internal label has been partially cut, but the Prada Milano label, size M, and code ET03827 are still present.

The photographs are an integral part of the description and show the actual condition of the hat in detail.

Note on the material

Raffia is a natural plant fiber obtained from the leaves of the Raphia palm. It is lightweight yet durable and, precisely because of its structure, lends itself very well to woven and crochet work.

In this case, it is not the modern raffia effect in viscose also used by Prada in current collections: this item has the declaration 100% raffia on the corresponding model complete with a label. Prada also continues to use both real raffia and "raffia-effect" yarns in contemporary collections.
